Creative Vacation Ideas For Adventure Seekers

September 13th, 2011

For some people, the word vacation means sitting on the beach, sipping frozen cocktails, and enjoying exotic nightlife. For others, vacation is a quiet trip to the mountains, canoeing in the lake and taking long strolls through the forest. However, for some, these vacation ideas are nothing short of boring and drab. These people have a true sense of adventure, and even while on vacation, they want their adrenaline pumping and their healthy stress levels as elevated as possible. For them, vacation means time away from their drab, dull lives. The idea of lounging on a beach for five straight days would mean misery for them, unless they are tasked with swimming with sharks near the coastline. For these adventure seekers, there are plenty of getaway options that will provide relatively safe, fun and action-packed activities that will keep them happy during the entire trip. Air enthusiasts will love a Floatplane charter or a Floatplane to Torino. These are great ways to have a scenic tour of an area, which often include places regular tour companies would not be able to reach. Not only will you get a ride you will remember forever, you will have a chance to view wildlife, scenery, natural wonders, and charming towns during your trip. Best of all, the rides are affordable and suitable for just about anyone.

If flying is not your thing but you still want to hit the water, consider a white water rafting adventure. These trips also get you in touch with the wilder side of nature, but they keep you closer to land. They are the best way to explore some of the wildest rapids the world has to offer and you will be able to have scenic tours of areas you may be unable to reach via hiking or motor vehicle. These trips can be coupled with camping or hiking outings to complete a true outdoor adventure trip. If the rapids are a bit much for you, there are options for kayaking or canoeing which can get you near the same areas but without the risk of white water rafting. Many of the trips can be paired together so you are able to experience the calming journey down a quiet stream as well as the wild wonders of the roaring rapids.

For those not interested in flying or traveling the waterways, you can plan a wildlife adventure. There are adventure vacation companies that will help you plan a variety of trips through the rugged outback. Many of these trips are packed with the dangers of facing wildlife up close and personal. You may need a guide to traverse certain countryside’s safely, and tour companies put together trips that come with trained guides, proper equipment, and plenty of fun and adventure. Imagine coming home with photos from a trip where you got to see a bear or moose from just a few feet away! If you are unable to decide which of these great adventures suit you best, plan them all. You can combine many of these adventures into one trip, or you can spread each trip across the course of several years. Adventure seekers need not fear; vacations do not have to be about lazy days on the beach.

Costa Rica offers a wide array of water adventures and water-related sports. The country’s 1200 km coastline affords some of the best water sports beaches offering surfing, snorkeling, board surfing and scuba diving, while inland rivers and rainforests are packed with boating, kayaking and white water rafting adventures.

Surfing, Snorkeling and Scuba Diving

Some of the world’s best year-round surfing lures water enthusiasts to Costa Rica. From mid-December to April, during the country’s summer, the most popular surfing location is on Costa Rica’s northern Pacific coast. Tamarindo, a small beach community, boasts beach surfing, river mouth surfing and some challenging surfing opportunities around the area’s well-known reefs.

On the Caribbean coast, Play Cocles is a favorite with surfers and in a remote and peaceful setting on the southern Pacific coast, Matapalo on the Osa Peninsula proffers world class surfing. This is also the best region for scuba diving and snorkeling. Drake Bay, on the northern tip of the Osa Peninsula, features crystalline clear blue waters where corals, several species of crustaceans and three species of dolphins reside. Octal, on the Gulf of Papagayo, offers diving courses as well as great snorkeling and fishing adventures. Water activities like the above range from relaxing getaways to high adventures in the depths of the Costa Rican underwater world.
